Safe Kids

Success Story

“Olivia,” a dedicated firefighter and mother, sought out our Safe Kids program for a free car seat inspection. Like so many parents, she wanted to ensure her baby’s safety, and during her visit, she discovered her child’s car seat had been installed incorrectly. With instruction from our team, Olivia learned the proper way to secure her baby’s seat—a lesson she never imagined would one day save her daughter’s life.

Just weeks later, while off duty, Olivia woke up in a hospital bed with a broken pelvis, a dislocated shoulder, and severe injuries that would require multiple skin grafts. She had no memory of the devastating motor vehicle accident, though she was not at fault. Doctors and family had to tell her the details—including the most important one. Her baby girl had been found safely cooing in her car seat, unscathed and without a single scratch.

Olivia credits the Safe Kids program with not only saving her daughter’s life but also giving her peace of mind during an unimaginable tragedy. Inspired by her experience, Olivia has since become a volunteer Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor for Safe Kids, devoting her time to teaching other parents and caregivers how to protect their little ones on the road.

Special Needs Car Seat

Success story

When her daughter outgrew every store-bought car seat available, one special needs mom felt unsure of where to turn to keep her child safe. A family friend mentioned Safe Kids Cobb County, and from the moment she reached out, her worries began to ease.

“The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and made the entire process so simple for me,” she shared. After a personalized fitting, the team recommended a Roosevelt car seat designed to meet her daughter’s unique needs. “By the time I left that day, the seat and all the necessary accessories were ordered. I felt so confident that my daughter’s safety was their top priority.”

Once the equipment arrived, Safe Kids staff expertly installed the car seat and provided guidance on adjustments for future growth. For over two years, that seat kept her daughter safe and comfortable. When it was time to transition to a booster seat, the family turned to Safe Kids again. “Their communication and support were top-notch from start to finish. They truly understood our challenges as a special needs family and went above and beyond to help.”

Safe Kids Cobb County’s Special Needs Fitting Station is more than a service—it’s a lifeline for families navigating unique safety requirements. “I can’t recommend them enough. They kept my child safe in a season when we needed them most, and I’ll always be grateful.”
