Cobb & Douglas Public Health’s Babies Born Healthy Receives Donation from Wellstar Foundation in Support of Improved Maternal and Child Health Outcomes

Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) has received a generous donation from the Wellstar Foundation that will be used to strengthen maternal and child health outcomes through its Babies Born Healthy program. This vital initiative focuses on ensuring healthier pregnancies and safer starts for infants across Cobb and Douglas Counties.
The donation will directly support uninsured pregnant women by expanding access to early and consistent prenatal care, reducing premature births and low birth weight, and providing critical infant care and home safety equipment for families in need.
“Cobb & Douglas Public Health is a longtime partner of Wellstar and Wellstar Foundation,” said Sharon Robinson, Interim Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Foundation Strategy & Growth. “By funding this initiative, partner OB/GYN providers will be able to provide essential pre and postnatal care, infant care supplies and safety equipment to expectant mothers who otherwise may not have access. Together, we are working to improve birth outcomes for both moms and babies.”
Lisa Crossman, Deputy Director of Cobb & Douglas Public Health expressed gratitude for the partnership: “This generous support from the Wellstar Foundation is a powerful investment in the health of our community. Healthy moms and healthy babies are at the heart of strong families, and through Babies Born Healthy we are able to reduce barriers, provide essential resources, and give every child a safer, healthier start in life. We deeply appreciate Wellstar’s continued commitment to public health and to the well-being of families in Cobb and Douglas Counties.”
The Babies Born Healthy program is a cornerstone of CDPH’s work to address maternal and child health disparities and ensure that every baby has the best chance to thrive.
